The condenser coil on a harbor-side Follett machine picks up salt off the marine air and corrodes faster than a coil twenty minutes inland would, and a corroded coil runs head pressure high until the compressor trips on overload. I clean what can be cleaned and flag a coil that's pitted too far to bring back.
Auger wear from harbor seafood-case demand. The restaurants down at the harbor pull ice hard for the fish display case on top of normal bar service, and that extra load wears the Chewblet auger bearing faster than a Main Street kitchen running bar ice alone. We replace the bearing and seal as a set once the wear shows in a wet, slushy ice texture.
Moisture and corrosion in dispenser control contacts. Salt-laden coastal air gets into a Symphony Plus control cabinet over time and corrodes the electrical contacts, which shows up as a dispenser that works on and off rather than a clean failure. We clean the contacts and check for corrosion before assuming the board needs replacing.
