Auger bearing wear. Heavy cycling on event weekends wears the auger bearing, and a grinding or straining sound is usually the first sign. We replace the bearing before it takes the motor coupling with it.
Idle-period control faults. A home wine-cellar unit that sits for weeks between uses can develop a stuck relay or a control board that's forgotten its settings. We test the full cycle, not just power-on, before we sign off.
