FAQ

Questions, answered.

The things people ask before they book. Pricing, brands, coverage, and who shows up when your machine goes down. Straight answers, no sales pitch.

Booking & pricing

Booking, pricing, and payment.

  • Do you charge for a diagnostic visit?
Yes. The diagnostic is $75, and we waive it when you approve the repair. You get a written quote before any work starts, so the invoice never surprises you.
  • How does a quote work?
We diagnose the machine to the actual failure, then hand you a written quote before we touch anything. Nothing gets done until you approve the price.
  • Do you warranty your repairs?
Yes. Completed repairs carry a parts and labor warranty, with the exact term depending on the part. Consumables like door gaskets and filters run about 90 days, and major components like compressors, control boards, and valves run longer. We put the warranty terms in writing before we start.
  • What payment methods do you accept?
Card, check, ACH, and HouseCall Pro online checkout. The invoice goes out the same day we close the job.
  • Do you use genuine parts?
Yes. We use OEM and genuine replacement parts wherever we can get them. We diagnose to the actual failure before we quote, no guessing by parts swap.

What we service

What we service.

  • What kind of refrigeration equipment do you work on?
Walk-in coolers and freezers, reach-ins, prep and sandwich tables, merchandisers, display cases, and commercial ice machines, plus the sealed systems and electrical that run them. We also handle high-end residential Sub-Zero and U-Line.
  • Who do you work with?
Restaurants, bars, cafes, grocery and convenience stores, offices, and hotels. Anywhere a unit going down means lost product or lost service, we are who you call.
  • Do you handle routine maintenance?
Yes, and for commercial kitchens it pays for itself. Condenser coil cleaning, ice machine descaling and sanitizing, door gasket and seal checks, drain line clearing, and refrigerant and temperature verification on a schedule that fits your volume. Most catastrophic failures start as a dirty coil or a slow leak we could have caught early.
  • My ice machine stopped making ice. What is usually wrong?
Most no-ice calls come down to a scaled-up evaporator, a dirty condenser starving the unit of heat rejection, a stuck water inlet valve, a bad float or water level probe, or a control board that has lost its harvest cycle. A lot of these are a cleaning and a part, not a full rebuild. We diagnose before quoting.
  • What does sealed-system work involve, and do you do it in-house?
Sealed-system means a refrigerant problem: a leak, a failed compressor, a restricted metering device, or a low charge. We do it in-house with EPA 608 recovery, leak detection, evacuation under vacuum, and a weighed-in charge. We do not sub out the refrigerant side, which is where a lot of shops cut corners.
  • Do you install or relocate units too?
Yes. We set up new and relocated equipment, including drain and electrical, and verify temps and pressures before we hand it over.

Brands & Manitowoc

Brands and certification.

  • What brands do you service?
17 brands and counting, including Manitowoc, Hoshizaki, Scotsman, True, Traulsen, Turbo Air, Beverage-Air, Continental, Atosa, Perlick, Delfield, Victory, Sub-Zero, U-Line, Summit, and Kelvinator. See the brands page for the full list.
  • Are you certified on Manitowoc?
Yes. Andrew completed the Manitowoc Ice and Koolaire Field Service Seminar in February 2026 and is factory-trained on Indigo NXT, NEO undercounter, and QuietQube remote-condenser ice machines. To be straight with you: that is a service certification, not a dealership. We fix and maintain the machines, we do not sell them factory-direct.
  • Do you work on Hoshizaki and Scotsman?
Yes, we service both. We are an independent shop, not a factory dealer, but the work is the same: real diagnosis, genuine parts where we can get them, and an honest quote.
  • Do you handle R290 / propane refrigerant units?
Yes. A lot of newer equipment, Atosa and others, runs R290 hydrocarbon refrigerant, which is flammable and has to be handled differently. Andrew is R290 (A3) trained through Mainstream Engineering, so those repairs are done safely and to code.
  • Are you authorized by every brand you service?
No, and we will not pretend otherwise. We are an independent service company. We are Manitowoc-certified to service ice machines and EPA 608 certified for refrigerant work. For other brands we service the equipment on its merits without a factory authorization.

Emergency & response

Emergency and response time.

  • How fast can you come out?
Most calls inside the Tri-Valley get a same-day or next-day slot. East Bay is typically next-day. A unit losing temp during service goes to the front of the line, because we know what warming product means on a Saturday.
  • Do you offer emergency or after-hours service?
Yes. The line is (925) 999-4095. A restaurant or store watching product warm up is exactly what after-hours is for. We work the dispatch from there based on the issue.
  • My cooler is climbing out of temp. Can you help fast?
That is usually a dirty condenser, a refrigerant leak, a failed compressor or fan motor, or a stuck defrost, and it is the kind of failure that puts product at risk. Call us and we prioritize it. We diagnose to the real cause instead of swapping parts and hoping.
  • Do you only do commercial, or homes too?
Commercial refrigeration and ice machines are the main work, from a single reach-in to a full walk-in setup. We also handle high-end residential Sub-Zero and U-Line.

Service area & credentials

Service area and credentials.

  • What areas do you serve?
We run out of San Ramon and cover the Tri-Valley and East Bay, from Dublin, Pleasanton, and Livermore through Danville, Walnut Creek, and Concord out to Oakland, Berkeley, Fremont, and Hayward. Check the city pages for your town.
  • Who actually shows up to the job?
Andrew Kuznetsov, the owner, is lead tech on most calls. When a second tech comes, it is one Andrew trained personally on the same playbook. No call center, no subcontractors.
  • Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. CSLB #1136642 with the California State Contractors License Board, EPA Section 608 Universal certification, and an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. We carry a 4.9 rating across 594 reviews under our parent company, ADRIUM Service Solutions, same owner and crew.
  • Do you do appliance repair or HVAC too?
Yes, through our sister brands. ADRIUM Service Solutions handles appliance repair, and Bay Area HVAC Service handles heating and cooling. Same owner, same crew.
