I clean and treat what can be saved and check the water valve and control contacts for corrosion while I'm in there, since salt air gets at those too.
- NEO heads fighting the marine layer. The NEO undercounters at the harbor restaurants deal with humid marine air rolling in every door opening, and that extra moisture loads the evaporator with ice faster than a dry inland kitchen. A harvest cycle set too short can't keep up, and the plate ices solid. I adjust the cycle timing to match the humidity instead of running the factory default.
- Ice machines maxed out on a tourist weekend. A Main Street restaurant's Manitowoc head runs flat out on a busy coastal weekend, and a harvest valve that's marginal will finally hang when the machine never gets a break. I test the valve coil against spec and fit OEM, since an aftermarket coil doesn't hold up under that kind of continuous cycling.
