Our Manitowoc certification comes out of the Manitowoc Ice and Koolaire seminar, factory training on the Indigo NXT modular line, the NEO undercounter, and the QuietQube remote-condenser heads. Albany runs on the same general East Bay water supply as its neighbors, soft compared to inland wells, but cafe volume on Solano Avenue still scales minerals onto the evaporator over time. Our approach is to rebuild and descale the unit rather than sell a replacement.

- Stuck harvest on Indigo NXT. The Indigo NXT posts a code when something's off, and the call we get most from Solano Avenue cafes is a stuck harvest, ice frozen onto the evaporator instead of dropping. Usually the water curtain isn't tripping the harvest valve or the harvest sensor has iced over. We carry the coil and the curtain switch on the truck.
- Cloudy cubes from cafe volume. Even on Albany's softer supply, the volume a busy Solano Avenue counter runs pushes minerals onto the evaporator until cubes turn thin and cloudy or production drops off. The fix is a water-circuit descale, a fresh inlet filter, and a six-month service schedule instead of the twelve months the manual prints.
- NEO undercounter faults in tight kitchens. Albany's kitchens run small, 1920s and '30s bungalow footprints converted to commercial use or shoehorned into a storefront, so a lot of the ice gear here is the NEO undercounter line, boxed in tight with barely any airflow. That cooks the condenser and shortens compressor life. We check clearance, clean the coil, and confirm the install has the airflow the unit needs.

Is Albany's water easy on ice machines?
Easier than inland wells, yes, but a busy Solano Avenue cafe still cycles enough water to scale the evaporator over a few months. We still recommend a six-month inlet-filter swap and a regular descale. -
How far is Albany from your San Ramon shop?
About 40 to 45 minutes, either I-580 to San Pablo Dam Road or Highway 24 through the Caldecott to I-80. Albany runs on the same route day as our Berkeley and Richmond calls, and booked windows get a written arrival time.
