What breaks. What we fix.
True is a brand our techs like to find behind a restaurant line. The cabinets are built well, they last, and when one quits it’s almost always cheaper to fix than to throw out. Most of the calls we run on True gear are about age and wear, not a flaw in how the box was made.
The single most common True call is a temperature problem. The unit runs warm or drifts off setpoint because the thermostat or control has gone bad over the years. That repair usually starts around $250 in labor plus whatever the part costs.
After fifteen or twenty years of service, sealed-system leaks start to show up. Years of compressor vibration and slow corrosion eventually open a line or a joint, and the refrigerant bleeds off. This is the job most general appliance techs either won’t touch or aren’t legally allowed to. We hold EPA Section 608 certification (EPA #1279674151528) and we do this work in-house: recover the old charge, pull a proper vacuum, fix the leak, and weigh in the new charge by the gram. A full sealed-system rebuild can run up to $4000 and we back the repair with a two-year warranty.
Door gaskets are the quiet one. When a unit skips maintenance, the gasket dries out and tears, warm air leaks in, and the compressor never gets a break. That runs up the power bill and wears the compressor out years early. Replacing a gasket is one of the cheapest fixes on the truck, and doing it on time saves the expensive part down the line. Ignore it and you’re shortening the life of the whole cabinet.
We carry common thermostats, controls, fan motors, relays, and gasket stock so a lot of True repairs get handled in one trip. Commercial labor starts at that same $250 base, but a tight install spot, having to pull neighboring units, or needing a second set of hands can push it up. We tell you the number before we start.
The $75 diagnostic is flat and covers a real inspection, not a guess. It gets waived if you approve the repair, and you get a written quote first either way. To be straight about it: we service True as an independent shop. We’re not a factory-authorized True dealer. We just know the gear and we fix it right.
