Pacifica's restaurants sit close to the water, around Rockaway Beach, the pier, and along the Highway 1 corridor, and salt air is a real problem for the True reach-ins and prep tables in those kitchens. It isn't a theory. Salt-laden air oxidizes aluminum condenser fins and pits electrical contacts faster than the same equipment sees inland, so units here age harder than the calendar suggests.

We plan for it. Condenser coils near the coast get cleaned and checked more often, and we carry contactors on the truck because pitted contact points cause the intermittent no-start calls I see most out here. A True unit a few miles inland might go five years before it needs that kind of attention. In Pacifica I've seen it need it in two or three.

What we close on the truck.

Condenser coils corroding early. Salt air oxidizes the aluminum fins on a True condenser coil faster near the coast, cutting how much heat the unit can reject. The compressor works harder, the box runs warm, and eventually the coil needs replacing well before it would inland. We clean what we can and replace the coil once corrosion has gone past that.
Contactors pitting and intermittent no-start. A True unit that won't start some mornings and runs fine other times often has a contactor with pitted points from years of salt air. We provide a written repair estimate after the on-site diagnosis and before any work starts.
Sealed-system and leak repair. Older True units eventually open a line and lose charge. We do recovery, evacuation, and weigh-in in-house under EPA #1279674151528, and we're R290 trained for the newer hydrocarbon gear.
