A defrost cycle that's set too short can't keep up, and the coil ices solid. I adjust the defrost schedule to match the humidity instead of just running the factory default.
- Ice machines maxed out on a tourist weekend. A Main Street restaurant's Hoshizaki cube head runs flat out on a busy coastal weekend, and a harvest valve that's marginal will finally hang when the machine never gets a break to rest. I check coil resistance on the harvest valve against spec and fit OEM, since an aftermarket coil fails early under that kind of continuous cycling.
