Crathco in Orinda
Crathco refrigeration in Orinda.
A Crathco leak almost always starts at a seal. The bowl gasket, the shaft seal behind the auger, or a hardened O-ring on the faucet lets product weep down the base, and by morning there is a sticky puddle under the counter at Theatre Square. A worn seal also pulls air into the mix, so the product foams and the pour goes uneven.
Orinda is quiet and mostly homes, with the cafes and the market clustered near Theatre Square and the BART plaza. There are only a handful of commercial dispensers in town, so when one goes down the operator feels it right away and there is no spare in the back.
We come out to Orinda from San Ramon as an independent shop. Andrew is EPA 608 certified under CSLB #1136642, gives a written quote before any seal kit goes in, and credits the $99 diagnostic toward the repair.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Bowl gasket, shaft seal, and O-ring leak. A Crathco leak nearly always traces to a seal. The bowl gasket, the shaft seal behind the auger, and the faucet O-ring each hold product back, and any one of them will weep once it hardens. We replace the seal kit as a set, clean the base, and pour-test the unit so it stays dry overnight.
- Faucet valve and O-ring. The dispense valve on a Crathco bowl has an O-ring and a piston that wear with every pour. Worn parts drip at the spout and let the pour run on after the handle closes. We rebuild or replace the valve, fit fresh O-rings, and set it so it shuts clean.
- Cold plate holding temperature. With only a few units in town, an Orinda bowl that drifts warm gets noticed fast. The cold plate and the R290 system have to hold temperature through a slow day with long idle gaps. We check the control, the charge, and the fan, and set the unit to hold steady whether it is busy or quiet.

FAQ
Crathco in Orinda questions, answered.
-
Will you come out to Orinda for one machine?
Yes. We run 680 to Highway 24, and it is a straight shot west through Lafayette into Orinda, usually around forty minutes from San Ramon. A single bowl at Theatre Square is worth the trip to us. -
There is sticky liquid under the counter every morning. Where is it coming from?
That is a seal leak. Product weeps past the bowl gasket, the shaft seal, or a faucet O-ring and runs down the base overnight. We replace the seal kit and pressure the pour to make sure it stops before we leave. -
The pour foams and comes out uneven. Is that the same problem?
Often it is. A worn shaft seal lets air into the product on the suction side, so the drink foams and the flow surges. Fixing the seal usually clears both the leak and the foaming at once.
