- Pump and agitator motor bearings. The pump or agitator motor on a Crathco spray or bubbler unit rides on bearings that dry out under high hours. The first sign is a grind or a squeal, then heat, then a stall. We pull the motor, replace the bearings or the motor if the shaft is scored, and set the coupling so it runs quiet again.
- Spray head and bubbler. Spray and bubbler bowls throw product over the cold surface to keep it moving and cool. Mineral scale and pulp block the spray tube and the nozzle, so the display dies and the top of the bowl warms. We strip and descale the spray path, replace worn tubing, and get the pattern back to full.
- Condenser and refrigeration in a busy kitchen. Oakland kitchens run hot and greasy, and that film coats a Crathco condenser and chokes the airflow. The compressor then runs long and the bowl loses its edge during the lunch push. We degrease and clean the condenser, verify the fan and the charge, and restore the cooling for a full-volume day.

Is Oakland too far for you to cover from San Ramon?
No, it is one of our regular runs. We take Highway 24 west through the Berkeley hills, then drop down through the 24 and 580 split into Oakland, with Piedmont right on the way. Chinatown, Temescal, Fruitvale, and Jack London all sit inside our normal route. -
The motor is making a grinding noise. Can we keep running it?
We would not. A grind from a Crathco pump or agitator motor is worn bearings, and running it that way lets the shaft wobble and burn the motor out. Shut it off and call us. A bearing job costs far less than a new motor. -
