Atosa in Blackhawk
Atosa refrigeration in Blackhawk.
Blackhawk doesn't run a lot of commercial volume, but what's here matters to the people who own it. The restaurants and market at Blackhawk Plaza and the country club kitchens run a mix of gear, and the newer buildouts lean on Atosa reach-ins, prep tables, and undercounters. When one loses temperature, somebody notices fast and wants it handled right. We service Atosa as an independent shop, no dealer claims, just the parts and the fix.
Atosa is the low-cost commercial line, and for the money it's fine, but it sits under a True on build, so it tends to fail a little earlier. The good news is the failures are cheap and quick: an evaporator fan motor, a stretched door gasket, a clogged drain on a prep table. We're dispatched out of San Ramon, so Blackhawk is a short run up Camino Tassajara, and we carry the common parts on the truck with a written quote before any work.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Reach-in fan and gasket failures. At the Plaza and the club kitchens, the Atosa MBF reach-ins die at the evaporator fan motor and the door gasket. Heavy door use stretches the seal inside the first year and a half, warm air gets in, and the box ices over within a couple weeks. We swap the gasket, clear the evaporator, and check the seal through its full swing so it isn't catching on one corner.
- Prep-table drains and rails. The MGF sandwich and pizza prep tables clog at the condensate drain, and you'll see a puddle under the unit. We pull it, blow the line clear, and drop in an inline screen. If the rail's swinging warm, it's usually a coil packed from a busy service, and we clean it before the compressor runs itself hot.
- R290 sealed-system work. A lot of the newer Atosa gear runs R290 propane refrigerant. We're HC(A3) trained through Mainstream Engineering and hold EPA #1279674151528, so leaks, compressors, and recharges get done in-house with recovery, evacuation, and a weighed-in charge. Blackhawk's water is hard, so on undercounter ice we descale the plate before it drags harvest down.

FAQ
Atosa in Blackhawk questions, answered.
-
Do you service Atosa at Blackhawk Plaza and the country club?
Yes. We run Atosa regularly in the Plaza restaurants and the club kitchens, as an independent shop with no factory-authorization claim. Most repairs run from $250 plus parts, and a clogged prep-table drain from $200. Blackhawk is a short run for us up Camino Tassajara. -
Is an Atosa worth fixing, or should the club just replace it?
Usually worth fixing. The common failures are cheap fans, gaskets, and drains. When one finally hits a leak that costs more than the box is worth, we'll tell you straight whether a second repair makes sense rather than push a new unit. -
My Atosa runs on propane refrigerant. Can you handle that?
Yes, that's R290, and we're trained and equipped for it. The sealed-system work is done in-house with proper recovery, evacuation, and a weighed-in charge. The $75 diagnostic is waived when you approve the repair.
