Continental in San Carlos

Continental refrigeration in San Carlos.

San Carlos splits in two for us. Laurel Street runs a dense row of restaurants leaning on Continental reach-ins and prep rails to get through service, and the east side toward the airport has warehouse and light-industrial operations running walk-ins and beverage coolers for their break rooms and loading docks. Both call us for the same reason, a box that's not holding temperature and product on the line.

We service Continental as an independent shop. Diagnostic is $99, credited toward the repair, and you get a written quote before we touch anything. We have a technician based on the Peninsula, in San Mateo County, so San Carlos gets local response instead of a drive down from the East Bay.

Common repairs we do

What we close on the truck.

  • Reach-in condenser coils clogged from kitchen exhaust. Laurel Street kitchens run tight, and a Continental reach-in parked near the flat-top or fryer line pulls grease-laden air across its condenser coil. The coil cakes over, head pressure climbs, and the compressor short-cycles or trips on high pressure. We pull the coil, clean it, and check the fan before we call the job done.
  • Walk-in door heaters failing on the east side. The warehouse walk-ins on the industrial side get opened and closed all day by forklift traffic, and the door heater wire that keeps the gasket from icing over is often the first thing to go. A failed heater lets frost build at the jamb until the door won't seal, so the box loses cold from the leak alone.
  • Prep table thermostat drift. A Continental prep rail that's cold on the sides and warm in the middle of the pan usually isn't the thermostat at all, it's a blocked return air path from overpacked pans. We check airflow first, then the control, before we replace parts.
