Clogged front-breathing condenser on SW-series prep tables. Continental prep tables draw cooling air through a front grille right at floor level, so in a busy Broadway kitchen the coil packs with flour, grease, and dust fast. Head pressure climbs, the compressor runs hot, and the rail pans drift warm even though the compressor never stops. We pull and comb-clean the condenser, check the fan, and confirm the box pulls back down to temperature.
Evaporator fan motor failure in 1R and 2R reach-ins. When the evaporator fan quits in a Continental reach-in, the coil ices over and the top of the cabinet goes warm while the bottom near the coil stays cold. Continental uses small shaded-pole and ECM fan motors that wear out or seize with age. We swap the motor and blade, clear the iced coil, and check the drain so it does not freeze up again.
Worn self-closing hinge cams and door gaskets. Continental doors ride on a cam-lift hinge that is supposed to pull the door shut on its own. As the cam wears and the magnetic gasket goes hard, the door stops sealing, and in Millbrae's damp air you get sweating, frost on the frame, and a box that fights to hold temperature. We rebuild the hinge cartridge and fit new snap-in gaskets so the door seats clean.
