Continental in Alameda
Continental refrigeration in Alameda.
Continental cabinets show up in a fair number of Alameda's independent restaurants, both on Park Street and over on Webster Street, built to take a beating through a full dinner service without much fuss. When one does fail it's rarely the cabinet itself, more often a wearing part that's overdue.
We service Continental as an independent shop, no factory-authorization claim. The common failures are a condensate drain backing up onto the floor, a start relay or capacitor giving out under repeated cycling, or a door hinge and gasket that's finally worn through after years of a busy line pulling it open. We stock the parts that fail most.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Condensate drain backups. A Continental reach-in or prep table with water pooling under the unit usually has a clogged condensate drain line or a cracked drain pan. We flush the line, clear the pan, and check the slope so it doesn't back up again in a few weeks.
- Start relay and capacitor failure. Repeated short cycling on a Continental compressor wears out the start relay or run capacitor faster than the compressor itself. We test the start components under load and replace the failed part before it takes the compressor with it.
- Worn door hinges and gaskets. On a Continental unit opened all day in a busy Park Street kitchen, the hinge sags and the gasket stops sealing evenly, letting warm air in along one edge. We adjust or replace the hinge and fit a new gasket so the door seals flush again.
