Sub-Zero in Los Gatos
Sub-Zero refrigeration in Los Gatos.
Los Gatos's Sub-Zero work lives up in the hills, not downtown. The estate homes toward the Santa Cruz Mountains, past Blossom Hill and out into the 95033 side of town, run Classic 36" and 48" built-ins, Designer integrated columns, and dedicated wine storage, and when one drifts warm there's real money in food and bottles riding on it.
We service all of it as an independent shop. We're not a factory-authorized Sub-Zero dealer, so what you get is a straight read on what's wrong and what it costs before anyone opens a panel, not a sales pitch toward a new unit.
It's a longer drive for us, down from San Ramon through 880 and up 17, so we schedule these visits into the day's route. The diagnostic is $99 and we credit it toward the repair. We carry gauges, a micron gauge, and a recovery machine on the truck, because a Sub-Zero seal job done halfway turns into a callback nobody wants to pay for twice.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- One side warm on the older 600/700 series. A lot of the older Los Gatos hillside homes run the dual-refrigeration 600 and 700 series, and the classic complaint is one compartment drifting warm while the other holds fine. That points to a slow sealed-system leak on one circuit. We diagnose by checking suction-line temperature and compressor cycling, then do the recovery, evacuation, and weigh-in in-house under EPA #1279674151528.
- Condenser fans and caked coils. On the Classic 36" and 48" built-ins, the condenser coil cakes with dust within a couple of years if a cabinet panel restricts the grille airflow, which is common in a custom-built kitchen. We pull the unit, clean the coil, and check the fan bearings before a dry-running fan takes the compressor down with it.
- Wine columns off setpoint. Dedicated wine storage is common in these hillside homes, and a cooling deck that's lost charge, a failed control board, or a door seal that's stopped sealing will drift the cabinet off setpoint fast enough to put the bottles at risk. We confirm the actual fault before ordering parts, since a bad wiring loom or a tired thermistor can fake the same symptoms.

FAQ
Sub-Zero in Los Gatos questions, answered.
-
Are you a Sub-Zero authorized dealer?
No. We service Sub-Zero built-ins as an independent shop, so we'll tell you straight what's wrong and what it costs. Sealed-system work, recovery, evacuation, and weigh-in are done in-house under EPA #1279674151528. -
My hillside home's Sub-Zero is cold on one side and warm on the other. What's that?
That's the dual-refrigeration design showing a slow sealed-system leak on one circuit. We find the leak, repair it, then recover, evacuate, and weigh in a proper charge rather than just topping it off. -
Is it worth repairing instead of replacing?
Usually. A Sub-Zero built-in is made to run 20 years and made to be fixed, and swapping one out means thousands plus a cabinetry refit. We provide a written repair estimate after the on-site diagnosis and before any work starts.
