Sub-Zero in East Palo Alto
Sub-Zero refrigeration in East Palo Alto.
East Palo Alto runs mostly dense rental housing and working-family homes, so built-in Sub-Zero is not as common here as it is a mile over in Palo Alto or Menlo Park. The calls we do get come out of the single-family pockets near the Woodland neighborhood and the streets closest to the Palo Alto line, where a kitchen remodel put in a Sub-Zero column or wine unit.
We take those calls the same as anywhere else, as an independent shop with a straight diagnosis and a written quote before work starts. The diagnostic is $99, credited toward the repair, and sealed-system work, recovery, evacuation, and recharge, is done in-house under EPA #1279674151528.
A technician based on the Peninsula in San Mateo County reaches East Palo Alto without the long drive from the East Bay, so the response window here is tighter than it would be otherwise.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Dual-refrigeration sealed-system leaks. On the older 600 and 700 series units, one side loses cooling while the other holds steady, which is a sealed-system leak on that circuit. I confirm with a suction-line reading, then we recover, evacuate, and recharge once the leak is found and fixed.
- Condenser coil and fan neglect. The condenser draws air low behind the kickplate on a built-in Sub-Zero, and it cakes with dust if the grille gets partly blocked by cabinetry. We pull the unit, clean the coil, and check the fan bearing before the motor seizes and drags the compressor down with it.
- Door seal and wine unit temperature drift. A wine unit or refrigerator drawer that will not hold setpoint usually traces to a worn door seal or a control board that has stopped reading the sensor right. I check both before ordering a part, since a bad sensor and a real leak look the same on the surface.
