When it can't hold both zones anymore, we're usually looking at the cooling deck, a worn fan motor, or a recalibration, not a dead compressor.
Original-kitchen retrofit installs. A single Summit undercounter squeezed into a 1940s or 1950s kitchen during a remodel often goes into a cutout with no clearance behind it. The compressor runs hot for a couple years, then starts short-cycling on the overload. We fix the airflow and swap the relay and overload instead of just chasing symptoms.
Gaskets and cold controls. A lot of these units are old enough that the door seal has hardened and cracked at the corners rather than just come loose, so replacement is the fix, not a reseat. Thermostats from the same era stick too, freezing the box or refusing to pull down. We carry gaskets and cold controls sized for the older cabinets.
