These modules run quiet and vibration-free, which is why they're popular in wine storage, but they wear out faster than a compressor system and can't recover much once ambient temperature climbs. We test the module and give an honest read on whether it's worth replacing or if the unit's reached the end of its useful life.
Compressor-based undercounter compressor and fan issues. Summit's larger undercounter refrigerators and beverage centers run standard compressors, and the common failure is a condenser fan that's seized or a start relay that's worn out from being built into a cabinet with limited airflow. We check clearance and ventilation as part of the diagnosis, since a unit installed too tight will keep failing no matter how many times you fix the part.
Door hinge and seal wear on built-in installs. Built into cabinetry, Summit units take more stress on the hinge than a freestanding fridge would, and a door that no longer closes flush lets warm air in and runs the compressor constantly. We adjust or replace the hinge and gasket and check the door swing through its full range.
