Refrigeration that keeps a working kitchen running

Hayward cooks a lot of food at volume, and that shows up in the refrigeration we get called for. Downtown around B Street has the restaurants and bars. Mission Boulevard runs taquerias, carnicerias, and family kitchens that hold a lot of product cold all day. Add the panaderias and Mexican markets, the gas-station and c-store coolers, and the food service around Cal State East Bay and the warehouse zone off Whitesell, and you’ve got a lot of compressors that just need to stay running.

Most of what we see here is straightforward. Walk-ins that won’t pull down, usually a frosted evaporator from a bad defrost timer or a heater that quit, or a condenser packed with grease and lint that needs a real cleaning before it’ll hold box temp. Reach-ins from True and Beverage-Air with worn door gaskets, failed evaporator fan motors, or a stuck condensate drain backing up over the floor. Turbo Air and Atosa prep tables losing temp in the rail because the coil iced over. We stock gaskets, fan motors, defrost timers, relays, and contactors on the truck, so a lot of Hayward calls close in one visit.

Ice machines and the local water

The carnicerias and markets lean on flakers and cubers, and bars run undercounter ice all night. Hayward water carries enough mineral that scale builds up fast on plates and bins, which kills production and ice quality. We descale, swap water filters, and check the recommended cleaning interval so a unit doesn’t choke again in three months.

Sealed-system and residential work

When it’s a leak, a dead compressor, or a low charge, we do the sealed-system work in-house with proper recovery, evacuation, and weigh-in. We hold EPA #1279674151528 for refrigerant handling and we’re HC (R290) trained for the hydrocarbon Atosa and modern undercounter units common around here. Up in the Hayward Hills we also service Sub-Zero and U-Line for homeowners.
