What breaks. What we fix.
Turbo Air sits in the same bracket as True. It’s honest commercial gear that earns its keep for years, and when one quits, repair almost always beats replacement. Because the build quality matches True, the things that break tend to break the same way. Most of our calls trace back to hours on the clock and skipped maintenance, not a flaw in the unit.
We service Turbo Air as an independent shop. We’re not a Turbo Air dealer and we don’t claim factory authorization on this brand. What we bring is parts on the truck, the EPA ticket to open the sealed system legally, and a flat price up front.
What we see go wrong
Thermostats drift as a box ages. The unit stops holding its set point, drifts warm, or short-cycles on and off. That’s usually a control swap, figure around $250 in labor plus the part.
Refrigerant leaks show up later, often in the 15-to-20-year window. Vibration, corrosion, and plain time work the joints loose until the charge bleeds off. This is the one a general handyman can’t touch legally or correctly. We’re EPA Section 608 certified (EPA #1279674151528) and set up to do it right, with recovery, evacuation, and a weigh-in on the recharge. A full sealed-system rebuild can run up to $4,000 and carries a 2-year warranty on the repair.
Door gaskets are the cheapest failure to stay ahead of and the easiest to ignore. A torn or hardened gasket lets warm air in, so the compressor runs nearly nonstop and your power bill climbs. Left long enough, a bad gasket is what turns a perfectly good box into a compressor that never shuts off. Catch it early and it’s a quick fix.
How we price it
Commercial labor starts at the same $250 base. Tight access, pulling a neighboring unit to reach the back, or a second tech on a heavy job can push it higher, and we’ll tell you that before we start. The $75 service call is flat and covers full diagnostics. It’s waived when you go ahead with the repair, and you get a written quote before any wrench turns.
We’re dispatched out of San Ramon and cover the Tri-Valley and greater East Bay, from Dublin, Pleasanton, and Livermore up to Walnut Creek and Concord, plus Oakland, Berkeley, Fremont, and Hayward. Phones are answered 7AM to 7PM, seven days, and the after-hours emergency line is the same number: (925) 999-4095. Bay Area Refrigeration Service is part of ADRIUM Service Solutions (CSLB #1136642), alongside Bay Area HVAC Service and Bay Area Refrigeration Service.
