What breaks. What we fix.
Delfield builds the kind of commercial refrigeration that lives in tight kitchens: reach-ins, undercounters, worktops, and the refrigerated prep tables that line the line at pizza shops, delis, and sandwich counters. Good equipment, but it runs hard in a hot kitchen, and when it starts drifting warm in the middle of service you need someone who can show up and fix it. We’re an independent shop. We service Delfield, we don’t sell it, and we make no factory-authorization claims.
What we see fail on Delfield units
Prep tables are the usual culprit. A Delfield sandwich or mega-top table that won’t hold the pan rail cold is almost always one of a few things: a coil packed with grease and flour dust, a condenser fan motor that’s seized or running slow, a failed evaporator fan, or a door gasket that’s torn and pulling warm air across the rail. We carry fan motors, gaskets, thermostats, defrost timers, and relays on the truck, so a lot of these get sorted in one visit.
Reach-ins and undercounters bring their own list. Long defrost cycles, ice building on the coil, a freezer climbing past zero, or compressors that short-cycle and trip the overload. Some of that is airflow and a dirty condenser. Some of it is a sealed-system problem.
Sealed-system work, done in house
When the issue is a refrigerant leak, a weak compressor, or a restriction, that’s sealed-system territory. We hold EPA Section 608 certification (#1279674151528) and do recovery, leak repair, evacuation, and weigh-in charging in house. Plenty of newer Delfield equipment runs R290 hydrocarbon refrigerant, and we’re HC (A3) / R290 trained through Mainstream Engineering, so we handle those units to spec instead of guessing. If a compressor is done, we’ll quote the swap straight, including whether the box is worth the repair versus replacing it.
How a call works
It’s a $75 diagnostic, and that comes off the bill if you have us do the repair. We give you a written quote before any wrench turns, so there’s no surprise number at the end. No upsells on parts you don’t need.
