Low-profile back bar not cooling under a full bar load. The Perlick BBSLP low-profile back bar takes a beating in a Union Landing sports bar, doors opening constantly through a game. When it stops cooling, we usually find a failed compressor start relay or run capacitor, or a condenser fan that has seized. We test the start components, check amp draw on the compressor, and confirm the fan is moving air across the coil before we call it fixed.
Undercounter door will not self-close and box swings warm. Perlick Signature Series undercounters use a spring hinge cartridge that pulls the door shut. When that cartridge wears out, the door hangs open a crack and warm bar air keeps infiltrating, so the temperature swings and the compressor never catches up. We replace the hinge cartridge and the magnetic gasket together so the door seals and closes the way it should.
Glycol power pack short cycling and warm beer at the tap. On a Perlick glycol dispensing system, a power pack that short cycles or a bath that is not holding temperature will send warm beer down the trunk line and foam at the faucet. We check the glycol pump, the bath temperature and level, and the keg coupler, and we look at the FOB detector so the line stays full and cold to the tower.
