- Condenser coil loaded with grease near a kitchen exhaust hood. Older Grand Avenue kitchens tend to sit tight against their exhaust hoods, and a Traulsen reach-in parked nearby pulls in grease-heavy air that coats the condenser fast. A dirty coil runs the compressor long and hot, so we clean it and check head pressure before we look at anything else.
- Compressor short-cycling on a tired start capacitor. Some of the older commercial buildings east of the Caltrain tracks still run wiring from decades back, and a Traulsen compressor on that circuit will short-cycle once its start capacitor weakens. We test the capacitor under load and replace it before it takes the compressor down with it.
