Beverage-Air in South San Francisco
Beverage-Air refrigeration in South San Francisco.
South San Francisco calls itself The Industrial City, and that split still shows up in the refrigeration work. East of 101, the biotech campuses run cafeterias, coffee bars, and employee taprooms that lean on Beverage-Air equipment all day. Grand Avenue downtown still has the older restaurants, delis, and bakeries that have fed the industrial side of town for decades.
The campus kitchens run Beverage-Air UCR under-counters in the micro-kitchens and DD-series direct-draw units in the employee taprooms, both getting opened constantly through the day. Grand Avenue's older kitchens tend to run Marketplace reach-ins and BB-series back-bar coolers that have been in place a long time and don't get much airflow in tight, older buildings.
There's no Beverage-Air factory authorization behind our name, we're independent, and that means an honest look at the fault before anything gets quoted. The visit runs $99, credited toward the repair, and the price gets written down before we touch a wrench. EPA 608 certification is on file under #1279674151528, and the license is CSLB #1136642. South City sits on our Peninsula technician's regular route, not a special trip.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- UCR under-counter in a biotech micro-kitchen icing over. Employees are in and out of these under-counters all day, and the constant door cycling wears the gasket and lets moisture in faster than a normal restaurant schedule would. The evaporator ices, airflow drops, and the top shelf goes warm. We replace the gasket, clear the ice, and check the defrost timer before we sign off.
- DD-series direct-draw taps pouring warm and foamy. A campus taproom's direct-draw box that pours foam instead of a clean beer usually means the start relay or run capacitor has weakened and the compressor is short-cycling instead of holding a steady run. We test those components first and fix the actual fault instead of just adding refrigerant.
- Marketplace reach-in on Grand Avenue running warm. In the older Grand Avenue buildings, equipment closets are tight and condensers don't get much fresh air. A Marketplace reach-in condenser fan motor working against that heat load wears out sooner, and once it slows down the box can't hold temperature. I test the fan under load rather than just spinning it by hand, since a slow motor can still turn free but not move air.
