Kelvinator is one of the older names in cold storage, and you still find its commercial gear running in plenty of Bay Area kitchens, bars, and corner stores. We service it. Reach-in refrigerators and freezers, chest freezers, glass-door merchandisers, back-bar bottle coolers, undercounter units, and frozen-food display cases. We’re an independent shop, not a Kelvinator dealer, and we don’t claim any factory authorization on the brand. What we do claim is that we know how this equipment fails and we carry the parts to fix most of it on the first visit.

The calls we get on Kelvinator boxes are usually the same handful of problems. A unit that won’t hold temperature, frost packing the evaporator coil, a compressor that hums and trips on overload, condenser fans seized with grease and dust, door gaskets torn enough to sweat the cabinet and run the compressor nonstop. On the merchandisers and bottle coolers, it’s often the door heaters, the defrost timer, or a clogged drain line backing water into the cabinet. Older Kelvinator units can have a tired condensing unit doing too much work because nobody’s cleaned the coil in a year. A lot of “it’s dying” service calls turn out to be a $40 fan motor and a coil cleaning.

We carry common fan motors, relays, start components, thermostats, gaskets, and defrost parts on the truck, so most repairs wrap in one trip. When the problem is sealed-system, leaking refrigerant, a dead compressor, a restricted metering device, we do that work in-house. We recover the charge, pull a deep vacuum, replace the failed part, and weigh in a fresh charge to spec. Our techs hold an EPA Section 608 certification (EPA #1279674151528) for refrigerant handling, and we’re trained on R290 hydrocarbon systems for the newer units that use it.

Pricing is straightforward. The diagnostic is $75, and we waive it if you book the repair. Before we touch anything past the diagnosis, you get a written quote, so there are no surprises on the invoice. On a sealed-system job we’ll tell you honestly whether the repair makes sense or whether the cabinet’s old enough that replacement is the smarter spend. We’d rather lose the repair than sell you one that won’t last.

We run out of San Ramon, 7 AM to 7 PM, seven days a week, and the same number covers after-hours emergencies when a box full of product is warming up overnight.
